Dave Batista left WWE many years ago in order to try his hand at various new projects. He tried having an MMA fight, which worked out for him. (He won).

Eventually, he made his way into acting. Ever since then, he has made the occasional comeback. In 2014, he returned to win the Royal Rumble, only to run into the unstoppable juggernaut that was Daniel Bryan. The groundswell of support around the diminutive technical wrestler ruined Batista’s triumphant comeback. He was forced to turn heel and lose to Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 30.

Since then, Batista’s star outside of wrestling has only risen. He is most famous for his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and, of course, Avengers: Infinity War.

Batista has been in other movies as well, such as the James Bond film Spectre and Blade Runner 2049. It’s safe to say that Batista is definitely a successful actor. Yes, the Rock is more successful, but he’s the highest drawing actor in Hollywood, so that may be a bit of a difficult high-water-mark to hit.

Why then, does Batista want to return to WWE in 2019, when he has so much going for him?

Obviously, there’s going to be some kind of fiduciary compensation that would entice him back, but it’s likely just the love of Wrestling. It seems that no one who leaves for Hollywood ever leaves for good. The siren call of professional wrestling always seems to call them back, whether it be Hulk Hogan, the Rock, John Cena, or our man Dave.

The rumor is that he wants to have one more big match so that he can retire. As you recall, his last run was not exactly under optimal circumstances. It seems Batista wants to go out on a rather high note so that we can all forget his silly run in 2014.

Hopefully, his match against Triple H will be able to lay this great career to rest.
